چکیده
Boghossian (Philos Perspect 8:33–50, 1994) argued (a) that externalism is incompatible with a transparency thesis according to which we can know priori whether any two of our occurrent thoughts have the same or distinct content, and (b) this integral commonsense conception rationality, requires apriority logical abilities. Stalnaker (Our knowledge internal world, Oxford University Press, Oxford, 2008) offered detailed compatibilist response Boghossian. Stud 155:457–465, 2011) criticized response, 155:467–479, replied. But outcome important discussion remained unclear, partly because it was unclear how understand amended at gesturing. My aim in paper settle matter. I wish (i) clarify terms debate, also by highlighting relevant commitments Stalnaker’s two-dimensionalist account, (ii) show his appeals diagonal propositions, unsuccessful.

A difficulty for this combination is thought to be that it pro...
متن کاملIntersubjective Externalism * Peter Pagin
In this paper I present the idea of a kind of externalism different from what is usually considered in the internalism / externalism debate. It is intersubjective in nature, since it concerns representation determined by relations between cognitive subjects. More precisely, it concerns linguistic expression types. The basic idea is that the meaning of linguistic expression types often depends o...

This is a different question. Call this the Evidence Question. The EvidenceFor Question has received significant attention. Debates in the Bayesian literature about the correct confirmation function, for instance, are aimed at the answering the Evidence-For Question.1 The Evidence Question is somewhat less investigated.2 Nevertheless, it is important. According to prominent epistemological view...
